How to Show Your Team You Care

Happy Employee Appreciation Day! Today is all about the ways in which you can celebrate, love, and dote on all of those killer employees of yours. It’s important to take time frequently to recognize your team, aka the people that make this company of yours happen! Without them, you wouldn’t be here, remember that. So, today, here are a few ways you can show your team that you care.

  • Tell Them - This is the most obvious of the 5, but tell them you care! It doesn’t take much to tell them they’re doing great, they’re valuable, they’re wanted, etc. Do it in passing, go to lunch and talk about it, send them a text or give them a call - Either way, nothing beats having your boss or employer tell you that they care, they appreciate you, and you’re wanted.

  • Show Them - This is another great way to show those team mates of yours that you care - Show them! Send them a $5 gift card, give them a half day coming up, brag about them to the team, take them to lunch, etc. There are so many ways in which you can show your employees or your team that you care and that they matter.

  • Thank Them - Your employees work 40+ hours a week for you and the success of the company. They often spend more time in a given week at the office than they do with their families at home. So, thank them for that. Thank them for their time, the energy they put into their work, and anything else that is deserving of a “thank you”.

  • Appreciate Them - It’s one thing to tell, show, and thank, but appreciating is different. It’s more than recognizing an employee’s worth ethic or good deeds. Recognition is more works based - giving an award, feedback, a pat on the back...Basically everything we mentioned prior. But appreciation, that is more about acknowledging someone's value. Not the work they’ve done, not their work-based successes but their worth as a human being. There’s nothing wrong with recognizing someone for their good works, but what’s more important is recognizing them and applauding them for their value as a person....Some food for thought for ya!

  • Support Them - You can tell them, show them, appreciate them, and more but do you support them? Are you there for them through the successes and failures? Do you give them room to grow and assist them along the way? Be there for them. Let them know you have their back and they’re going to help you along the way but that they trust you too - to work, thrive, and find successes. Just be there.

Short ‘n’ Sweet - right? We hope you’re having a fantastic Employee Appreciation Day and are getting all of the love from those you work with. Remember: tell them, show them, thank them, appreciate them, and support them!
