De-Bunking the Idea That We’re Just an ATS

Last week, a group of the ApplicantOne team hopped on a plane and set off towards Las Vegas, Nevada to #HRTech to network and spread the word about what we do. After meeting with lots of awesome companies, brands, and HR professionals, we walked away realizing that no one else was doing what we’re doing. Because of this, so many people we encountered thought we were just an ATS. While an ATS is a part of what we do, it’s certainly not all that we do!

Who is ApplicantOne, Inc?

ApplicantOne was started as a way to make the job hiring process easier for everyone—whether you’re seeking employment or your posting an open position on job boards, ApplicantOne’s mission is to take away the grunt work from both applicants and clients. We market towards small to midsize companies to help them find the best talent possible.

Because there are more job openings than job seekers, we seek both active and passive candidates using an advanced recruiting software and hiring platform that, to our knowledge, no one else in the industry uses. This software was both designed and created in-house by our incredible team of developers. We have what we do down to a science with a carefully curated step-by-step process that really allows our clients to feel at ease throughout the tedious and stressful hiring process.

What is an ATS or Applicant Tracking System?

Applicant Tracking Systems are common in the world of staffing and are a type of software that provides the necessary tools for both the recruiting process as well as the hiring process for companies of all sizes. On a basic level, the system collects and sifts through (depending on the company) hundreds, if not thousands of resumes. If you have ever submitted an application through some sort of online form, chances are you were interacting directly with some sort of ATS. The Balance Careers states that an ATS is an “automated way for companies to manage the entire recruiting process, from receiving applications to hiring employees.”

Our ATS at ApplicantOne, Inc

ApplicantOne originally began as an ATS. After awhile, we started to realize that our customers weren’t using the system to its fullest potential due to the amount of time it took hiring managers to train or go through the ATS themselves. Thus, SOURCE was born and we began partnering a recruiter with our ATS to help throughout the process. The way we use our ATS now, with the help of one of our recruiters, is by eliminating the work that hiring managers traditionally put into training and taking care of the front end of the hiring process.

Now, our ATS is tailor-made to fit your timeline as well as all of your needs from a fully functional system that automates all of the hiring concerns that may arise as you go throughout the process. Once you agree to work with ApplicantOne, our system goes to work and continues through the new-hire’s first day!

Our ATS even includes a Background Screening test that provides seamless integration within leading Background Screening and Drug Testing providers as well as electronic scheduling. Clients can view the results of the test within ApplicantOne, making everything incredibly user friendly and available.

Our ATS includes:

  • Requisition creation and approval automation

  • Job Distribution to hundreds of job boards and Social Networks

  • Reduced data entry through Resume parsing and our Smart Forms

  • Custom skill mapping and grading

  • Proprietary Video Interview module

  • Custom Hiring Process on a per requisition basis

  • Integrated interviews and calendar

  • Customizable new hire on-boarding

  • Fully integrated to background screening, drug testing, payroll systems, and HRIS

Check out a quote from Nathan Lewis, one of our Senior Recruiters about what sets ApplicantOne apart:

"What sets ApplicantOne apart from the status quo in hiring is our unique candidate approval process. Traditional ATS procedures employ a resume-heavy approach in qualifying a candidate, but ApplicantOne's proprietary method engages candidates via a resume review, personality assessment, and video questionnaire. Our assessment measures verbal, analytical, and quantitative reasoning, based on the category of the job role (IT, HR, Sales, etc.). The video questionnaire portion allows our Clients to integrate prompts that are important to their culture and job process. This allows a Client to gauge whether or not a candidate, based on body language and verbal answers, would be a viable option for the company. We are very proud of our process. We have high confidence that a client gets a panoramic view of every candidate that we share."

What is SOURCE?

A huge part of what makes ApplicantOne more than just an ATS is SOURCE. SOURCE was created by our team to make recruiting simple for our clients. SOURCE is our big-ticket item that combines both ATS with the human touch of an experienced recruiter. At ApplicantOne, we value individuality and understand that having a real life person to interact with can be more powerful than total automation.

The best part about SOURCE is the adaptability of the software. SOURCE is a SaaS technology that uses adaptability to meet the clients’ needs to accurately deliver solutions, quality candidates, and a seamless experience. We are able to do this through SOURCE with monthly customer feedback that routinely enhances the platform, which therefore enhances your overall experience with us!

Our statistics show that hiring managers are spending more than 15% of their time and energy recruiting for one position. Time is money, and not everyone can afford to hire a recruiter per position and also expect them to accurately perform their task while using 15% of their time on one candidate or client. Luckily, SOURCE handles all of the nitty-gritty that recruiters normally handle such as job posting, advertising, reviews, assessments, video interviews, phone interviews, and vetting! Once all of the front-end work is finished, one of our recruiters will deliver the pre-screened, pre-qualified, and fully vetted candidates to you through our dossier. All you have to worry about is submitting your order, allowing us to work through our systems, and then choose the candidate that works best for you! That’s it—totally painless.

The Dossier

The Dossier is a vital part to the way we help you hire. After a candidate’s screening process is complete, ranked resumes are created and provided for all of the qualified candidates. The dossier will include detailed results from every single assessment, which measures the ‘fit’ of the candidate for your company and the respective position. In fact, candidates that receive anything below an 80% on the assessment are no longer considered--guaranteeing you the best match possible. Along with the assessment, there will be detailed notes recorded by our recruiters for the hiring managers to review and share with the rest of the team. Next, the pre-recorded one-way interviews are linked to the dossier so you can actually take the time to watch the person’s interaction with questions provided by you or automated by our system. Everything that is vital to your understanding of the candidate is right there, neatly organized for you!

Check out what Ben Eubanks, a renowned HR analyst, author, and podcaster has to say about recruiting and Applicant Tracking Systems in his blog post titled “Why Are 70% of Resumes Not Reviewed by Recruiters?”

“[An] Applicant tracking system can only help you in organizing the process, proceed basic search of candidates with relevant keywords, primary communication via chatbots, and make the process convenient. All the other steps require face-to-face communication, attention, knowledge of psychology, and other skills, which no AI system can yet replace.”

He continues, “70% of CVs have formatting errors which prevent it from getting into applicant tracking system. That is why it is decisive for a future career to know the formatting rules.”

“Now technologies allow getting rid of manual work. However, the negative side of it is a wrong ranking. A candidate with more significant experience and better degree can appear low on the ranking list due to the absence of keywords and phrases.”

Why does this matter?

Ben Eubanks’ quote further solidifies why we do what we do and why using real life recruiters along with an ATS provides the most accurate candidate pool that you can receive. An ATS on its own can only get you, as a company or as a client, so far. Yes, it can help organize, and perform basic tasks on its own, but without further advancement to the technology, like we have here at ApplicantOne and especially without the human touch that we offer, the ATS can fail on it’s own. That’s why we debunk the idea that ApplicantOne is just an ATS. Our recruiters will catch formatting errors that could eliminate an otherwise impeccable candidate, and they are always on the ball, making sure no resume accidentally slips through the cracks.

With ApplicantOne, you can guarantee a unique hiring experience that is stress-free, top quality, and effective in providing the perfect candidate(s) for your next open position(s). We are confident in our unique ATS+Recruiter formula and the incredible results we see from it every single day. We are certain that our formula will provide a better experience every single time, putting you at ease during what can be a stressful experience.
